Throughout our everyday lives, we often place our trust in services rendered by others. If we own a home, we may hire contractors to perform maintenance or improvements. If we have money to invest, we will likely hire brokers to invest and manage our money. We also turn to insurance companies and their representatives when we have a need to purchase life insurance.

Unfortunately, sometimes the trust we place in contractors, brokers, and other professionals is betrayed and results in financial harm.

The Firm has represented individuals in cases involving:

  • Home Contractor negligence and Consumer Fraud;
  • Inappropriate Investments against a Securities Broker;
  • Unauthorized Trading against a Securities Broker;
  • Inappropriate Insurance against an Insurance Broker;
  • Attorney negligence.

If your trust has been betrayed, then you need to know your rights. For instance, the New Jersey Consumer Fraud Act contains serious penalties for acts of consumer fraud, including treble damages and counsel fees. The Consumer Fraud Act covers improvements to homes and contains very specific regulations about home improvements. Such cases can usually be filed in New Jersey Superior Court.

Cases against securities firms and brokers often fall within the province of the NASD and are subject to arbitration. Unauthorized trading and inappropriate investment cases typically involve use of an expert who can assess the investors profile and portfolio.

In cases against licensed professionals, it is a requirement in New Jersey that an affidavit of merit be obtained to proceed with suit. Such cases, including legal malpractice cases, require use of an expert and the rendering of an expert report.

It is essential to the success in these cases that you retain a law firm that understands the appropriate steps necessary to pursue cases against contractors, securities firms and brokers, insurance companies and brokers, and licensed professionals. The Firm has successfully handled such cases and is available to answer your questions and to evaluate your potential case.
